Overview Performs technical skills and assists the surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, central sterile and other professionals in the operating room. May Perform similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned. Responsibilities Sets up tables, instruments and supplies required for specific operation. Carries out surgical asepsis. Assists surgical team during operative procedure. Assists in the preparation for surgical procedures. Assists in the preoperative preparation of patients. Patient Registration & Financial Responsibilities • Greets patients courteously, determines their needs, and offers assistance. • Registers patients by performing necessary procedures, such as preparation of records, reports, notices, service charge slips, and payor information. • Interviews patients, relatives, or others responsible to determine payment arrangements and refers unusual cases to the immediate supervisor. • May assist self-pay patients in making suitable arrangements for balances due beyond initial deposits or third-party payments. • Answers inquiries related to patient accounts and advises patients on insurance benefits. • Receives all payments and deposits, issues receipts for all monies received, and properly accounts for all funds received. • Posts charges daily to proper patient accounts. • Posts payments to accounts daily. • Determines billing method for third-party payors. • Contacts insurance carriers/agencies to obtain precertification of ancillary, admission, and surgical procedures. Administrative Responsibilities • Operates various office equipment including copiers, fax machines, and other assigned equipment. • Operates communication systems, placing and answering telephone calls, paging, or contacting staff. • May make and maintain appointment schedules for clinic physicians. • May secure required signatures on reports and records relative to release of information according to policies and procedures. • Contacts patients, physicians, or others for information necessary to properly complete insurance or other billings. • Types memos, correspondence, and other documents as needed. • Compiles periodic and statistical reports and other data as directed. Qualifications Education • High School Diploma Required • Graduate of Medical Assistant Training Program Preferred Experience • Up to 1 year • Three (3) to six (6) months on-the-job training as required to attain proficiency of assigned duties and responsibilities if not certified. Required Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities • Obtain patient history and take vital signs to assist physician with examination and treatment. • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment area. • Perform selected tests that assist with diagnosis and treatment. • Screen and follow-up patient test results. • Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician and maintain medication records. Licenses & Certifications • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program. Preferred. 
Overview The Registered Nurse requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process in the respective departments in which assigned. The RN must collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members and students. Responsibilities Completes patient assessments, formulates plan of care, oversees implementation of plan of care, evaluate and adjust plan of care utilizing critical thinking skills The performance of other nursing acts which are authorized or limited by the board, and which are consistent either with American Nursing’s Association Standards of Practice or with Standards of Practice established by nationally accepted organizations of registered nurses. Care, counsel health teaching and promotion, utilizes Teach Back methodology as affirmation of comprehension The administration of medication, intravenous therapy and treatment as prescribed by a LIP Supervision, delegation and follow-through to other personnel in the performance of activities relating to nursing care. Qualifications Education • Associate's Degree in Nursing required. • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience • One (1) to three (3) years of experience preferred. Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities • Performs initial assessment to include physical examination of OB patients, recognizes abnormal signs and symptoms, and takes action as indicated. • Performs special OB procedures as required. • Sets up, operates, and cleans OB equipment. • Provides routine postpartum care, including ongoing assessment. Licenses & Certifications • Registered Nurse required. • BLS certification required. • Completion of Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course (AWHONN) within six (6) months of hire required. • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. • De-Escalation Training required within six (6) months of hire.
