Responsibilities Job Summary This position requires a thorough understanding of the facility’s treatment program and philosophy, admission process and criteria, support and administrative services, medical knowledge of various aspects of alcoholism, drug abuse and dual diagnosis. This individual is a member of the treatment team providing professional level of nursing care to patients under minimum supervision and consultation. This is a complex position which directs and guides activities on the unit and assignments of ancillary personnel assigned to unit and shift. Duties and Responsibilities: Calls the appropriate team member (i.e. Medical Director) with all non-life threatening medical and medication issues to obtain guidance regarding his plan of action for the client. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, all staff members are authorized to contact emergency services by dialing 911. Identifies client care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual clients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to clients and families. Promotes client's independence by establishing client care goals, teaching client to understand condition, medications and self-care requirements; answering questions. Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against client care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse act, and other governing agency regulations. Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methods. Follows the incident reporting policy and procedure in reporting any potential safety issues. Demonstrates skills of delegation, organization and coordination of assigned services, delegating responsibilities to designated staff as appropriate. Functions as a role model for nursing staff. Role models problem solving as the effective means of resolving conflict. Participates in input for performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and follow-up to other types of issues. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with staff, management, and other members of the health care team. Provides pertinent communication to the Director of Nursing regarding levels of staff performance. Effectively prioritizes communication issues pertaining to all departments and provides collaborative intervention as necessary. Exercises good judgment and discretion in deviating from policy in circumstances where strict adherence would pose a risk to the patient, visitor, staff or facility. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to maintain adequate levels of staff to deliver safe, effective and appropriate care and also remains within the budgetary guidelines. Provides clinical direction to staff and evaluates the level of care provided by the nursing staff on assigned shifts Holds staff accountable for functioning in a reduced risk manner. As the coordinator of care, the registered nurse is responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts and mobilization and participates as needed in patient handling Provides coordination for the unit and direction for the staff. Responsible for scheduling, patient flow, unit operations, resource allocation and supply management. Participates in PI data collection, data analysis, reports and staff education. Assists in providing essential training to the new staff. Coordinates with the doctors and other nurses on the plan of care to provide the individual treatment needed. Other duties, as needed. Qualifications Education/Experience: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) OR Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN). Current RN License in in State of operations required. CPR and First Aid Certified. Knowledge of addiction and drug treatment preferred. Functions with an awareness of patient safety issues and applies basic principles of safety as identified within the facility. Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings. Shift Hours: 7a-7p Pay Range: $25-29/Hour • Rate of pay is based on experience • Must have current LPN license • Prepares, monitors, and administers medication to Residents at scheduled intervals • Assist Residents diagnosed with diabetes at regular intervals • Review all notes in the Resident Service Plans Binder, Resident Communication Logs, discussing all pertinent issues with Resident Assistant staff, Resident Services Director, and Executive Director • Review Medication Administration Records for accuracy • Review changes in the Resident Service Plans and CareSteps assessments • Complete Comprehensive Assessments, Physical Self-Maintenance Screen, and Behavioral Screens for all Residents • Responsible for notifying the Pharmacy upon Resident move-out (including death) or admittance to the Hospital so that Pharmacy can stop medications • Create a new plan of care for any Resident returning to the Community from the Hospital • Perform regular audits on all PRN and bulk item medications, ordering from pharmacy when needed • Perform regular audits of the controlled medications and investigate any discrepancy • File Residents files and Medication Checklist • Update Resident Service Plans Binder • Make medical appointments and schedule transportation for Residents, coordinating schedules with the Resident Services Director/Resident Services Coordinator to ensure there are no conflicts • Maintains daily communication (both written and verbal) with Executive Director • Familiar with gerontology and an overall view of health care delivery, including State regulations. • Must have an overall “caring” attitude • Excellent verbal and written communication, including listening skills • Must have ability to supervise others • Must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted and 125 pounds per person in a two-person lift • Will be regular in attendance, with the right attitude and attire • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment required • We are a drug-free workplace, we do perform criminal background checks and random substance abuse testing.

Responsible for daily nursing operations of a specific unit/wing. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the residents; checks each resident daily to determine status; ensures residents reach highest attainable level of functioning. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during their rounds. Administers prescribed medications, orally and by injection; provides treatments using therapeutic equipment; ensures proper handling and storage of medications and controlled substances. Observes resident’s reactions to medications and treatments. Observes, records, and reports changes in residents’ condition to supervisor and attending physician. Maintains resident’s medical record by way of documentation as required by policy. Provides education to residents and families regarding care. Assists in planning, supervising and instructing CNA; assigns daily work assignments to ensure positive outcomes for residents. Implements and maintains policies and procedures. Ensures that safe work practices are utilized. Ensures proper infection control techniques are utilized. Assists in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program and ensures follow-up occurs. Reports accurately to oncoming shift Charge Nurse regarding change in resident status and follow-up needs. Responsible for capturing charges for all supplies issued to residents on that unit. Participates in care planning process and ensures the Nursing component is implemented.
