Must be open to flexible shifts and days. POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of your job position is to provide each resident with routine daily nursing care in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards that govern the facility and as directed by your supervisors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assessment and development of resident care plans Ensuring that all nursing care is provided in privacy Checking vital signs Dressing wounds Passing out medications Assisting with admissions Making rounds with physicians Starting IVs Listening to residents and their families Addressing questions/concerns of residents Performing accurate and detailed charting of resident progress notes Providing assistance to LVNs and CNAs Ensuring equipment is in good operating order Monitoring residents that are at risk for falls Collecting lab samples Abiding with all facility policies and procedures including not disclosing user ID codes and passwords Following Infection and Control policies Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately Attending annual facility in-service training programs Completing other assignments when requested by management Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. REQUIREMENTS Education / Licensure Nursing Degree from accredited school or college Valid RN license in good standing Valid CPR and BLS card Qualifications / Experience Minimum of 1 year of skilled nursing experience preferred Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language Ability to use computer or tablet to enter resident data Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions May be involved with residents, family and government agencies May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.) May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day Working throughout the nursing areas Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Contributes to the evaluation of the patient’s progress towards specific goals and the adjustment of the nursing plan of care as necessary • Receives and transcribes orders accurately from attending/alternate physician. • Assists in making rounds with the attending physician, as necessary. • Prepares/administers medications as ordered by the physician and within the legal scope of practice. • Completes medical treatments as indicated and ordered by the physician. • Evaluates response and report adverse reactions to medication or treatments in accordance with the policy. • Assures that narcotic and controlled drugs are secure, inventory counts are accurate and narcotic register documentation is timely and accurate • Orders prescribed medications, supplies and equipment as established by the facility’s policies and procedures. • Requisitions and arranges for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by the physician. • Notifies the attending/alternate physician, as well as the resident’s legal guardian/representative, when the resident becomes critically ill, injured, etc., or has a significant change in condition as outlined within established policies. • Notifies the attending/alternate physician of resident incidents/unusual occurrences. Completes Accident/Incident Report forms as indicated and documents relevant information in the resident’s medical record as outlined in established policies and procedures. Initiate investigation of accidents and unusual occurrences • Informs RN Supervisor or RN in charge of the facility of significant changes in resident condition, unusual occurrences, incidents, or accidents as indicated and per facility policy and procedure • Attend various facility meetings (care conferences, stand-up meetings, staff meetings, Medicare meetings, discharge plan meetings, etc.) as required. • Reports allegations of abuse or unusual occurrence per State and Federal Regulations and facility policy.
