The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Primary Care under the supervision of the facility physician, provides advanced nursing services and patient care in the facility’s medical program to inmates/residents. Primary Healthcare Services: Conducts thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories for incarcerated individuals. · Diagnoses and treats a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections. · Develops and implements individualized treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications, therapies, and interventions. · Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, such as pharmaceuticals, laboratory work, radiological examinations, and screenings. · Provides vaccinations, performs health screenings, and promotes preventive care measures within the correctional population. · Performs basic technical skills such as suturing, splinting and injections. Chronic Disease Management: Monitors and manages chronic diseases prevalent among incarcerated individuals, such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C. · Ensures proper medication management, including prescribing, adjusting dosages, and monitoring treatment effectiveness. · Educates patients on disease management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence. · Collaborates with specialty care providers for consultations and referrals, when necessary.
