Overview The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care (as competency demonstrates). This care utilizes the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/ tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associated, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the RN manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures Qualifications Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups. Jacksonville, FL 32257Under the supervision of the Triage manager and the direction of the Triage supervisors or Team managers, provides patient care in a variety of settings for the purpose of assessment, symptom management, treatment, teaching, emotional support, coordination of care, deaths, coverage of routine case management visits, etc. Work hours include every Saturday and Sunday from 8am-8pm and one weekday (either Monday or Friday) from 830a-5p, based on organizational needs. Primary Responsibilities: Weekend coverage: Performs skilled nursing activities such as: Completes assessment of patient for effective symptom management. Incorporates nursing skills, communication skills, and emotional intelligence skills to effectively assess problems/needs. Perform treatments and interventions in accordance with the plan of care and physician’s orders. Provide information and education regarding disease progression and anticipated needs at end of life. Provide instruction to the patient/care giver in accordance with the plan of care or changes in plan of care.
