Position Title: Certified Medical Assistant, Full-Time, Days, Edmond Department: Edmond Pulmonology Clinic Job Description: The Certified Medical Assistant II works alongside Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care according to state and federal guidelines. This position plays an important role in the ambulatory setting by not only performing clinical and administrative duties but also helping patients feel at ease and understanding provider instructions. Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals Must follow standard precautions Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and ordering supplies. Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities. Assists with procedures. Maintaining sterile field and specimen labeling when necessary. Gathers and documents information about patient condition, which include lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, nutritional status and potential complications Performs cleaning, sterilization and/or high-level disinfection of scopes, probe, instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use. Participates in the development of the plan of care, including implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions which may include oral, intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous medication administration (exclusive of narcotics) as directed by a physician or physician assistant. Reinforcing patient education about medications, post-surgical care, special diets, and changes in treatment plans. Transmitting prescription refills as directed Arranging for hospital admissions and patient care services May precept new medical assistants Participate in daily compliance audits, chart checks, and reporting safety events De-escalate patient concerns Minimum Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar patient care role required. License/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire. PRN Registered Nurse (RN) * Day (7a-7p) & Night (7p-7a) Shift Available Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare have partnered to expand access to behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma through construction of a new, state-of-the-art behavioral hospital. Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a 48-bed facility, will more that double Norman Regional Health System’s inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients and add new services, including an intensive outpatient program and a dedicated geriatric behavioral health unit. The freestanding hospital will be located on the Norman Regional Porter campus and replace the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit. The Registered Nurse assumes primary leadership accountability and responsibility for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff. The Registered Nurse maintains standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policy and procedures, other external governing and credentialing bodies, performance improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards. The Registered Nurse assesses the patient utilizing the nursing process to formulate an individualized plan of care for each patient, implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes consistent with policy and appropriate to the current client’s condition, which promote, maintain, and restore physical and mental health, and prevent illness. The Registered Nurse interprets age/disability specific information in response to client population served. The Registered Nurse provides for the safe delivery of medication in accordance with the policies and procedures, physicians orders and/or current practice. The Registered Nurse is responsible for thorough, accurate reporting, and documentation of the patient’s symptoms, responses, and progress. The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for professional development, continuing education and maintaining licensure. Demonstrates knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions; implements nursing interventions identified in the plan of care that is individualized to the patient needs. Applies appropriate interventions to progress the patient towards wellness and addresses maintenance of wellness. Administers medications as prescribed safely; provides education on prescribed medications; recognizes signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions. Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and responsibility for decision making, quality nursing care, and knowledge base of psychiatric nursing care.
