Job Description The successful candidate will: Provide primary care service to individuals and families, which will include care for incumbent's own panel of patients, as well as seeing walk-in patients of the practice as needed. Document all care provided in the patients' medical records. Develop further, maintain/manage patient care panel with participation in managed care programs and other direct patient care programs as applicable. On a daily basis, review all laboratory and radiology reports to identify abnormal results for urgent follow-up. Ensure that patients are contracted to arrange additional care and that their primary providers are notified. Participates in and provide departmental and Family Medicine educational activities to medical students, allied health professional students. Participate in hospital and departmental health fairs, community health education events and speak to community groups, when requested. Qualifications Required Qualifications New York State Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner Licensure. Master of Science Degree in Nursing. BCLS Certification. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years relevant clinical experience.

Job Description The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant 2, NS81 Med/Surgery CPCU (Nights). Distinguishing Characteristics Nursing Assistants provide care to individuals in hospitals and long-term care facilities operated by New York State. Care ranges from attending to patients’ personal hygiene needs, to performing a limited number of simple treatments and therapies under direction of licensed clinical staff. Incumbents provide direct hands-on care to individuals by assisting with bathing, dressing, perineal care, mobility, eating, and other daily living activities. Illustrative Duties Under direction of higher-level treatment staff, performs duties similar to those of a Nursing Assistant 1, but with greater proficiency. Positions may assist with training new staff in assigned treatment areas. Changes simple dressings as directed, gives enemas, douches, and irrigations as directed. Applies abdominal “T” binders, hot water bottles, aqua “K” pads, ice bags, and coolers, and hot and cold compresses to patients as directed. Assists patients in collecting urine and stool specimens. Observes and records patients’ quantitative food and fluid intake and waste output. Takes temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and respiration rate. Gives therapeutic baths such as sitz and fever sponge baths. Measures and records height and weight. Inspects functioning oxygen therapy equipment including tents, masks, and cannulae to ensure appropriate functioning. Recognizes and reports abnormal signs and symptoms of common diseases and conditions to clinical staff. Applies splints, braces, slings and other self-help devices. Operates a variety of specialized patient monitoring and treatment devices. Attends to patients’ hygiene and daily living needs in order to maintain an atmosphere conducive to patient comfort and treatment. Examples include bathing and dressing patients, brushing teeth, and trimming nails. Collects and carries patients’ laundry and dry cleaning and delivers objects to appropriate locations in the health care facility. Receives patients’ belongings and transports objects to safe storage, keeping appropriate records. Feeds patients requiring assistance. As directed by clinical staff, moves, positions, lifts and transports patients using a variety of lifts and other aids in order to make patients comfortable, prepare patients for treatment, deliver patients to treatment areas, and to prevent contractures. Brings bedpans and urinals to patients requiring assistance and attends to incontinent patients. Talks and listens to patients and responds by encouraging patients to cooperate and participate in treatment activities. May transport patients and supplies on occasion. May perform a variety of limited housekeeping and cleaning duties related to direct patient care in order to ensure that treatment and patient areas are clean, sanitary, orderly, and properly supplied. Qualifications Required Qualifications Non-Competitive: 1-year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision. JOB DESCRIPTION Distinguishing Characteristics Graduate Nurses (T&RC) and Registered Nurses 1 (T&RC) perform similar nursing tasks and activities; coordinate and provide nursing care to individuals in State University of New York teaching and research center hospitals; administer treatments and nursing procedures within established guidelines and as prescribed by licensed health care providers; and consult on nursing matters with treatment teams and other disciplines. Levels in the series are primarily distinguished by scope and independence of operation, which is based on incumbents’ credentials (i.e., possession of a limited permit as a graduate nurse or eligible to enter examination for licensure as a registered professional nurse; or possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State). Graduate Nurse (T&RC): entry level; possesses a limited permit as a graduate nurse or is eligible to enter examination for licensure as a registered professional nurse in New York State; under the close supervision of a higher-level registered nurse, provides direct nursing care to individuals in accordance with Article 139 of the Education Law. Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC): full performance level; possesses a license as a registered professional nurse in New York State; under the general direction of a higher-level registered nurse or licensed health care provider, independently provides direct nursing care to individuals in accordance with Article 139 of the Education Law; supervises nursing care activities; and provides clinical supervision and training to Graduate Nurses (T&RC), Teaching & Research Center Licensed Practical Nurses, and direct care staff. Registered Nurse 2 (T&RC) Positions perform duties in each of the three functional areas described below. Participates in in-service and other educational programs related to clinical specialties. May identify, develop, and implement nursing research studies on clinical units, in consultation with medical staff consultants. Clinical Management: Consults and coordinates with other health care team members to resolve complex clinical issues and develop short and long-term clinical goals for assigned units. Integrates and evaluates clinical care knowledge specific to the needs of unit individuals; develops unit-specific policies and procedures in consultation with nursing management staff. Job Summary Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Responsibilities Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions Respond to all lab messages and call back requests Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain complete and accurate documentation Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification and BLS is required.
