GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Perioperative Services, and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for filling the surgical scrub role on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies in each surgical specialty. Assists physicians and nurses in various medical and technical procedures. These functions must be in compliance with the philosophy of the hospital, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies. REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or equivalent required Certification as a Surgical Technologist required Two years previous experience as an operating room technician desired Current BLS certification ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Decision making concerning equipment and/or instrumentation sterilization. Biohazardous waste disposal. Housekeeping duties. Patient care and patient flow. Complies with hospital practice standards regarding competent performance duties. Maintains patient confidentiality. Maintains a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA guidelines and infection control standards. Demonstrates knowledge of Instrument Processing from decontamination to storage of sterile packages. Checks room for cleanliness, availability of supplies and equipment for all assigned cases at the beginning of each day. Utilizes surgeon preference card to select packs, supplies, and instruments. Performs surgical hand scrub and dons sterile gown and gloves according to gowning and gloving policy. Maintains proper sterile technique when gowning and gloving surgeon and draping patient. Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts according to count policy. Handles specimen per established policy. Transports instruments to decontamination area utilizing appropriate technique and in compliance with established policies and procedures. Puts unused sterile supplies and instruments away at the end of the day. Restocks operating rooms to established PAR levels. Adheres to attendance, punctuality, meal, and break time period policies. Completes work in an acceptable time frame and in an independent manner. Carries out assigned duties in an effective, productive, and efficient manner. Demonstrates a positive “can do” attitude. Willingness to adjust personal schedule periodically as workload fluctuates and as department needs require. Attends 100% of department meetings or documents review of materials presented. Functions as a team member following the rules of engagement of the department and hospital. Communicates information about customers or other employees only as necessary to conduct hospital related business. Hours of Work : 40 Days Of Week : 5 Work Shift : Job Description : Your Job: The Medical Assistant works under the general direction of the Physician or Nurse. You will provide healthcare to individuals and families as instructed by the physician. The MA will perform routine clinical process as directed by the physician you will also participate in patient education, enter appropriate documentation into patient charts and perform other duties assigned within the scope of your licensure. Your Job Requirements: • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. • 2+ years of professional medical assisting in a practice setting is preferred. • National/Registered Medical Assistant Certification • Valid CPR certification. • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. • Extensive standing and walking; frequent exposure to potentially infectious agents, communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a physician’s office; requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Your Job Responsibilities: • Maintains strict patient confidentiality, and will use complete discretion when discussing patient information. • Implement patient care under the guidance and direction of the all physicians, ma’s and/or. Office Manager(s). • May screen phone calls during triage under the supervision of a physician. Will function as a patient screener only, and will not make medical decisions during the triage process. Any triage phone call or face-to-face triage situation requiring a medical decision will be immediately referred to a physician. • May perform intramuscular, intradermal of subcutaneous injections with complete documentation. • Assists physicians and/or MA’s in providing nursing care to patients in accordance with clinic policies and procedures. • Takes patient history and vitals. • On a monthly bases check for expired medication, keeping appropriate documentation and disposal. • Responsible for unpacking and maintaining medical supplies and vaccines and keeping supply closet organized. • Assist in Rx refills via Fax, E-Rx or phone calls and updating in the patient medication module. • Demonstrates an extensive working knowledge and practice of infection control procedures. • Cleans and disinfects all instruments and maintain QA reports for the autoclave. • Other job duties as assigned.
