About this Job: Unit Highlights The Maternal Newborn Center provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period, including a Level II Special Care Nursery, where we provide care to our smallest patients. We utilize approaches such as Spinning Babies® and Bundle Birth to promote safe outcomes and maintain cesarean rates below the national average. Our close-knit team of highly trained nurses—certified in electronic fetal monitoring and STABLE—delivers compassionate, high-quality care in a collaborative environment. We are a smaller unit with 5 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 1 PACU, and 2 ORs, as well as 10 Postpartum rooms. Transfer Coordinator (EMT/CNA)

About this Job: We have a full-time Transfer Coordinator opportunity at our Transfer Center located in Lanham. The Transfer Coordinator provides services including: Emergency requests to transfers critical patients to MedStar Hospitals for conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, trauma and other time sensitive emergencies; non-emergency transfer requests to MedStar hospitals; dispatches helicopters and ground critical care ambulances; requests for ambulance and wheelchair transports for all MedStar hospitals; coordination of critical responses such as in-hospital Code Heart; coordination of regional hospitals information during disasters; critical radiology communications; and other critical communications for the MedStar Health system. Here are some of the duties you will be responsible for: Provide support for the physician and nurse practitioner so that they are kept on schedule and advised of appointment changes Perform various duties to include triage, taking vitals, gathering medical history to document into the EMR system Serve as an assistant to the physician and APRN with procedures and chart updates Ensure all work areas and exam rooms are neat and clean and instruments are disinfected Support office staff in areas to include phone calls with patients, record requests, and close daily orders Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent 2+ years' experience as Medical Assistant preferred Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred Gastro Health is the largest gastroenterology multi-specialty group in the country.
