Job Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician Authorize drug refills as directed Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy. Draw blood Prepare patients for x-rays, tests and procedures. Delegate and supervise care given by NCA’s/LPN’s. Develop plan of care for aides, assign care to aides based on the skills of the aide, the availability of the aide for patient care continuity, patient preference (when possible), and other considerations as determined by the patient’s care needs. Identify personal learning needs and implements corrective action: assists in planning and conducting staff development programs to improve DHCC effectiveness. Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Implement agency policy, procedures and objectives. Work closely and collaboratively with agency billing staff to ensure accuracy of billing. What you can expect Location: 2301 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705 Valvano Day Hospital is comprised of outpatient pediatric specialty clinics and an outpatient pediatric infusion area. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience. Level 4 of the Children's Health Center consists of allergy/immunology, bone marrow transplant, hematology/oncology, and liver transplant clinics, along with a 12-hour, 7-day-a-week infusion unit that supports pediatric outpatient infusions. Patient populations include both oncology and non-oncology patients. Nurses hired for this unit work in both clinics and the infusion area. Overview The Ambulatory Care Nurse (ACN) is a Registered Nurse responsible for providing nursing care management services to the assigned populations.
