Job Description Harborview Medical Center's Ortho Trauma Fracture Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant. Work Schedule Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours weekly) Days, Mon-Fri 0830-1700 Department Description The Orthopedic Trauma and Fracture Clinic specializes in the comprehensive management of musculoskeletal injuries, with a primary focus on acute and complex fractures, and dislocations. Our multidisciplinary team of orthopedic trauma surgeons, nurses, medical assistants and ortho techs provides expert care to patients with traumatic injuries resulting from accidents, falls, or high-impact events. Our clinic offers both surgical and non-surgical treatments tailored to each patient’s specific condition. Services include fracture reduction and fixation, post-operative care, follow-up imaging, and physical therapy coordination. We also manage complications such as non-unions, malunions, and infections associated with previous injuries. Demonstrates professional responsibility and leadership through participation in hospital, University and professional opportunities. Participates in the quality assurance and process improvement activities of the clinic and organization. Shares in the improvement in quality of patient care through participation in committees, implementation of new trends in nursing or medical care, and by contributing suggestions for improvement in organized delivery of care. Job Description Harborview Medical Center Inpatient Acute Care Float APP (ARNP; Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant) This opening is for 100% FTE, Days; (and with weekend and holiday coverage, and with the potential for some night shifts). The Inpatient Acute Care Float APP team is composed of licensed physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are skilled and trained to work across multiple services at Harborview (currently including General Surgery, Medicine Polytrauma Service, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, & Burns). Float APPs possess the ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and provide comprehensive care. They play a critical role, filling in when there are staffing shortages, leaves and fluctuating demands. Work is performed 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility under the general guidance of the attending physicians or fellows, lead APP and APP assistant director. Guidelines include general policy procedures and practice guidelines established by the department and Harborview Medical Center, as well as appropriate professional and technical manuals. Roles & Responsibilities Practice high quality evidence-based medicine within the scope of a licensed APP in the inpatient acute care setting including: Rotating among inpatient services including but not limited to General Surgery, Medicine Polytrauma Service, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, & Burns Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations Diagnose and manage acute & chronic medical conditions Develop and implement individualized treatment plans Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary Perform procedures within one’s scope and training as appropriate Order and interpret diagnostic tests Prescribe and manage medications Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary teams, fostering a cooperative atmosphere that promotes effective communication and teamwork Provide patient and family education Engage in patient discharge planning and follow-up care coordination Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety protocols Complete learning modules and participate in continuing education Provide mentorship and guidance as appropriate to other staff and students Requirements Nurse Practitioner: Masters or Doctorate Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing AND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges AND National certification as an ACNP (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner); (FNPs/Family Nurse Practitioners with at least 3 years of APP/provider level experience in acute care will also be considered).
