How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Overview The Department of Internal Medicine at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the team. Provides nursing care for patients and assisting physicians. Clinical and administrative duties include: Triage patients [vital signs, height/weight, medical/social history, medication reconciliation] Stock/prepare exam rooms Retrieve imaging and laboratory results Process work task/message ques in the electronic health records [EPIC], and the patient portal [myChart] Ability to work in our clinical and administrative areas with the Department of Medicine. Responsibilities Perform patient intake including obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications and allergies, documenting chief complaints, administering medications and immunizations according to approved protocols, observing for adverse reactions, assisting providers with examinations, minor procedures, diagnostic testing, and implementing standing orders. Provide basic patient care and document all nursing interventions in the electronic medical record.
