Nursing Responsibilities: Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following: Administer medications Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider Performing 14-day physicals Managing chronic care Providing patient education on health concerns Responding to medical emergencies Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency. Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed. Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations Location: Floating to various correctional facilities throughout the NE part of Indiana. Candidate must live in the state of Indiana or nearby in a neighboring state (and be licensed to work in Indiana). Shift Opening(s): Availability for dayshift and nightshift and weekends. Travel accommodations provided with potential for company vehicle, as well. JOB SUMMARY Provides nursing care to patients as directed by the provider utilizing the nursing process. Performs patient access functions. Demonstrates proficient use of email. Accomplishes goals set for self and by Office Manager. Completes patient care assignments as directed by provider and clinical protocol. Reports significant findings to the provider. Prepares clinic areas for patient care at the beginning of the shift. Secures clinic areas nightly. Proficient in EPIC including retrieving patient records, entering patient data (e-form) and locking record. Greets patients on arrival. Registers and enters patient data into the Health Information system. Scans insurance card information. Admits patients, taking brief history and vitals. Performs procedure set-up and assists provider as indicated. Discharges patient with prescriptions/instructions and documents in patient’s chart. Maintains adequate medical supply and medication inventory. Schedules surgeries or referrals as ordered, attain prior authorizations for surgeries when needed, provides patient education and instruction information. Familiar with policies in Policystat, including nursing, registration and disaster policies. Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Manager.
