Overview Maimonides is currently seeking Licensed Practical Nurses to join our Geriatrics Department. Our LPNs will coordinate day-to-day clinical activities, provide direct patient care in collaboration with physicians during visits, and manage patient flow throughout each visit. Responsibilities Prepare patients for medical examination; take vitals, perform EKGs, order medical supplies for the home program, and the geriatric patient clinic. Assist with procedures and collect specimens (e.g. finger puncture, phlebotomy, take urine samples, obtain and record vital signs, urine dipstick, CLIA, EKG, etc.) from patients and perform procedures. Prepare and administer injections and vaccinations. Fill out lab forms and requests for lab tests, label blood tubes and specimen collection containers, and arrange for specimens to be picked up. Contact laboratories for results and report to the physician. Monitor inventory of medical supplies to ensure stock is at par level. Clean exam rooms and waiting area in between patients and document Covid-19 screening in NextGen for patients and accompanying family and aide in adhering to Covid-19 protocols. Monitor medical equipment to ensure they are in proper working order. Answer telephones and make patient appointments, route calls, take messages from pharmacies, home care agencies, laboratories, insurance companies, doctor offices, and patients/families. Qualifications A NYS LPN License. A CPR/BLS Certification. A High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of one to two years of Geriatric care experience. Familiarity with common geriatric conditions (Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Arthritis, Diabetes, mobility issues, etc.). Pay Range USD $37.20 - USD $40.64 /Hr.
