Documents develops and implements nursing conferences and meetings as appropriate. * Provides and communicates information to members of the healthcare team on a variety of clinical and administrative matters (e.g., new products, equipment and techniques); assesses and evaluates the process of new programs, and makes recommendations to management on implementation and/or acquisition of new products/techniques; conducts in-services as required. Assists the senior nursing management leadership team in identifying CQI projects. Works with leadership in developing, implementing and monitoring quality assurance projects as well as analyzing data. * Participates in the selection, hiring, and supervision of clinical leadership and professional staff: initiates disciplinary action, carries out annual performance appraisal of employees, recommending promotions, raises, training, etc. Assists the Director of Nursing in preparing and developing the annual capital budget for the department by selecting and recommending the purchase of equipment and other items necessary to move the department forward in technology and improve departmental efficiency. Assists in preparation of the departmental operating and personnel budgets; manages the budget throughout the year, analyzes and monitors monthly reports and overtime runs for the department to ensure that the department operates within budget guidelines. * Reviews standards and related policies and procedures for compliance with requirements of regulatory agencies: recommends and implements changes as required and ensures changes are communicated to Patient Services staff, monitors and reviews departmental and unit compliance with reporting requirements. * Responds to problems that arise on a daily basis; resolves where possible, referring problems or responses to the appropriate individual as required; reviews and investigates all complaints received by the department with department members to ensure speedy resolution and reply.
