Overview A Nurse Practitioner, certified under section 6910 of the New York State Education Law is a licensed registered nurse who provides primary health care in accordance with written policies approved by nursing/medical administration. Responsible for patient care as outlined within the Collaborative Practice Agreement. Nurse Practitioner (NYSNA) Gastroenterology/Endoscopy 9am-5pm / Monday-Friday / Full Time Responsibilities Coordinates comprehensive interventional endoscopy care, including triaging referrals, retrieving outside clinical information, scheduling procedures and follow‑ups, and ensuring all pathology and radiology results are reviewed by physicians. Maintains seamless communication and care continuity by addressing patient and physician inquiries, updating referring providers, coordinating with surgery and interventional radiology, supporting Open Access Endoscopy referrals, and documenting care accurately while incorporating teaching and evidence‑based practice. Applies advanced nursing, critical‑thinking, and leadership skills to deliver specialty‑specific care, manage resources effectively, build therapeutic relationships, and integrate assessment and intervention skills to promote patient health and safety. OFFICE VISITS BC# 0286 / ICIMS JOB# 11207 FULL TIME: MONDAY – FRIDAY / 8:30AM-5:00PM Responsibilities For direct care providers: Provides age-appropriate care and intervention for ages of patients served according to job description (e.g. assessments, treatment plans, assists with assessments). For non-direct care providers: Provides support services using age appropriate interpersonal communication. Clinical Practice Domain Develops and implements a collaborative practice agreement in the specific clinical area and performs a periodic review of the collaborative practice agreement. Initiates therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examinations. Interprets findings and alters plan of care including, but not limited to, prescribing and altering medication regimens and ordering blood according to agreed-upon collaborative practice agreement and designated protocols in designated area. Provides teaching and counseling in areas of health promotion and maintenance and in disease prevention Documents findings and plan of care in patient’s medical record Consults with physician as established in the collaborative practice agreement. Initiates referrals to specialty services and fosters continuity of care. Initiates hospital admission and discharge after collaborative consultation with physician. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes. Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
