BASIC FUNCTION The primary function of a Certified Medication Aide is responsible for the accurate and timely medication distribution (known as a "med pass") for designated residents. The employee must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The employee must have good English reading skills and comprehension, a working knowledge of basic keyboarding. Excellent time management and customer service skills are a must. SHIFT: 7:00pm - 11:pm REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Passes medications and gives treatments according to physician's orders and in accordance with facility process.2. May be required to give shift report on perceived condition of residents. May be required to document in the resident records in Point Click Care. Responsible for notifying charge nurse of medications needing to be refilled. Assures personal and staff compliance to residents' rights. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized medication cart and medication room. May be required to assist residents with personal hygiene tasks, and other activities of daily living. May be required to assist with activities. May be required to perform duties as set forth on Certified Nurse Aide job description as needed. Monitors personal and staff compliance to all State and federal requirements including but not limited to blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and fire safety. Monitors personal and staff compliance to resident's rights. CMA may NOT provide residents: IV injections or scheduled I or II narcotics. May be subjected to random drug tests during the course of employment May be required to work in roles that do not require Medication Technician certification as deemed necessary by Facility (e.g. STNA).
