Nurses provide state-of-the-art intensive care using advanced therapies such as hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), therapeutic intravascular cooling, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), mechanical ventilation, continuous respiratory care, pharmacologic interventions, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Through ongoing patient assessment and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, RNs deliver high-acuity cardiovascular care while supporting innovative cardiac procedures and achieving optimal patient outcomes. Heart Failure ICU (J32) The 10-bed Heart Failure Specialty Care Unit specializes in caring for adults with advanced and complex heart failure, including patients awaiting heart transplantation and those requiring intensive medical management. Nurses provide advanced cardiac therapies, including intravenous vasoactive medications, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and hemodynamic monitoring. The unit also cares for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), and specialized treatment for pulmonary hypertension, including pulmonary artery catheter monitoring and intravenous therapies. This unit offers the opportunity to develop expertise in advanced heart failure and cardiac critical care while caring for some of the most medically complex patients. ------------------- A caregiver who excels in this role will: Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The hospice aide works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various tasks as assigned in accordance with the patient’s plan of care to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for reporting and documenting observations and care performed. The hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient's care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities of the hospice aide include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. Providing patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality. 3. Meeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.) 4. Giving personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assigned. 5. Assisting in dressing and undressing patients as assigned. 6. Assisting in feeding the patient as assigned. Hospice Aides may not provide patients with homemade food items or baked goods that they themselves prepared 7. Providing proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence. 8.
