This provider will join a team of both physicians and APPs that provides 24/7 care to critically ill medical patients at the Rush main campus. APPs will work autonomously and in collaboration with Rush pulmonary/critical care attending physicians and fellows and will be required to perform a number of procedures including central line placements, paracentesis and temporary hemodialysis catheter placements, among other duties. Department/division specs There are more than 400 APPs employed across the Rush system. The AICU team is fully staffed with 9 APPs. We work closely with many departments (palliative care, hepatology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, etc.) as part of a multidisciplinary approach in the ICU. This role will function on a rotating shift schedule including nights and weekends along side a team of 44 attending physicians, 36 residents, 4 fellows and 10 APPs. Previous Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.
