Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY This is a non-exempt hourly position that has discretion to make decisions and has access to confidential employee and business information. The purpose of this position is to ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager for each neighborhood that safe, appropriate and goal-directed care is provided in a consistent manner, to provide support and direction to nursing staff, and to ensure the implementation of the Medical Staff and Nursing Department policies and procedures. Use Center electronic medical record for documentation and ordering Provide emergency services for residents and staff as needed. Assist Employee Health office with immunizations, PPD placement and reading, and staff assessments as needed. Provide coverage for Employee Health service as needed Address abnormal laboratory results and document assessment and plans. Order and arrange transfer of residents to acute care facilities as indicated, including provision of written consultation and telephone call to receiving ED. Write thorough notes including history, physical exam, assessment, and plan for resident encounters. Provide end-of-shift sign out to nursing and medical staff. Make rounds to ensure that all residents are seen at least one time per shift. In partnership with nurse supervisor, take active role in education, support, and guidance of staff. Meet with parents, physicians, other staff, and/or administration as needed. Maintain knowledge base through continuing professional education programs and provide documentation to medical staff office. Provide coverage for Infection Control, including formulating and distributing daily Infection Control Memo, as needed Write comprehensive monthly progress notes in conjunction with attending physician Serve as highest ranking staff member when administrator or designee is not in facility Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by supervisor, department director, and/or administration. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program S. N.; M.S.N. NP Certification RN and NP in the State of New York BCLS certificate PALS certification preferred Completion of courses mandated for continuation of RN license, (ex. Infection Control course; Child Abuse course.) DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Certification is required Graduate of an accredited MD program License to practice medicine in the State of New York Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics Certified (or eligible for application) by the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA) National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number Required Experience POSITION REQUIREMENTS Experience in pediatric and adolescent chronic and restorative nursing modalities preferred Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds. Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids. Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to improve patient care and systems practice on the Trauma service. Overview About the Role Leverages extensive subject matter expertise on clinical systems and knowledge of clinical operations and workflows to coordinate the activities of medical staff in the planning, development, implementation, and support of clinical information systems/solutions to improve the delivery of patient care and hospital operations. Advances efficient and effective patient care by adapting and integrating current hospital processes. Ensures the integration of clinical content across users and/or applications. Ensures that systems are implemented and functioning under the guidance of acceptable University policies and procedures and meet all regulatory requirements. Develops testing strategies according to system build and downstream system requirements. Develops and manages complex projects. Provides work direction and guidance to Analyst and Project Staff as needed. For the purpose of a project or assignment, may report to a Manager or Associate Director for assignments and tasks. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Assists physicians, nurses, and other clinicians with design, implementation, workflow optimization, and issue resolution related to electronic health record (EHR) and other clinical applications. Functions as a liaison between the clinical community and IT analysts, and a key resource for application and/or clinical workflows and software systems. Develops and manages complex projects. Works with clinical users to understand clinical information technology project needs. Recommends resource planning and support needs to ensure successful project implementation. Oversees the design and development of application programs from analysis to implementation and assists with these duties as needed. Creates system specification and workflow documents for new projects and/or features. Maintains existing specifications and project documents for complex clinical IT initiatives that include technical details, user expectations, project goals, work effort, accountability, and deliverables. Coordinates the installation of software and/or hardware. Works in concert with other HST/IS&T Departments pertaining to the planning and implementation of systems to ensure that HST/IS&T standards are met. Manages documentation and communication for problem determination and resolution. Researches complex issues and offers solutions. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Bachelor’s Degree, with preference for Hospital Administration, a health related discipline (Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.), or related clinical field. Licensure in a clinical profession is required. Five (5) years of experience in information systems with preference given to candidates within a hospital environment. Extensive subject matter expertise on clinical systems and knowledge of clinical operations and workflows. Direct experience with electronic medical records is a plus; prior Epic experience is highly desirable. Must complete certification on Epic application specified by management within 6 months of training. Demonstrates interpersonal skills working in a service-oriented environment. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Capable of functioning/leading in a team environment. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements. Additional relevant experience, or clinical expertise, may be substituted for information systems experience. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
