Organization: Surgery (Inpatient) Burn Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating closely with physicians and other care providers to manage a distinct patient population in the inpatient acute care setting. Working with hospitalized patients, the APP provides specialized care and supports the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based medical services. This role requires a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and clinical education, with the APP responsible for adhering to established clinical pathways and protocols to ensure safe and effective patient care. The APP will demonstrate advanced medical knowledge, clinical and technical competence, sound clinical judgment, and professional communication skills. In addition, the APP is accountable for timely and compliant documentation and actively participates in professional development and competency validation to maintain high standards of care. . Position Hours: .75 FTE 4 8 Hour Shifts Per Week 6:00am - 2:30pm Department Summary: This position provides comprehensive inpatient care for pediatric burn patients as part of a multidisciplinary burn team. Responsibilities include: Performing patient assessments, H&Ps, daily progress notes, and ongoing management of hospitalized burn patients. Providing patient and family education, communicating treatment plans, and serving as a key liaison for families throughout the hospitalization. Coordinating care with multiple disciplines, including surgery, nursing, rehabilitation services, case management, social work, nutrition, and other consulting teams. Performing burn dressing changes at the bedside and assisting with dressing changes completed under sedation. Facilitating transitions of care and coordinating discharge planning and outpatient follow-up. Participating in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborative care planning. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the position may include: Updating and maintaining burn service protocols, clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), and workflow processes. Contributing to quality improvement, patient safety, and operational initiatives within the burn program. Supporting ongoing program development and evidence-based practice initiatives. We are looking for a motivated, self-directed advanced practice provider (APP) who is committed to patient care excellence within a collaborative and compassionate environment that promotes teaching and learning for both patients and team members. Each patient’s plan of care is initiated by the APP and supported by registered nurses and support staff. The leadership team is comprised of a medical director (who is also the APP collaborative physician), nursing director, and clinic manager. The Hi-RiSE clinic shares a unique relationship with the Vanderbilt Preoperative Evaluation Clinic (VPEC) and team members are cross trained to work within both clinic systems.
