JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 42 Work Shift : 7 on / 7 off, 12-hour shift (7p-7a) Job Summary: The Acute Care APP will work in collaboration with the intensivist and other healthcare professionals while providing advanced, evidence-based clinical care to the critically ill adult patients in the ICU unit. Major areas of responsibilities include in-house management of the critical and non-critical patients in the Intensive Care Unit, participation in multidisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives. Required to work rotating 12 hour - 7 on / 7 off shifts which include weekends and/or holidays as indicated with fixed nights or days. The primary duties include: Perform comprehensive assessments and develop differential diagnoses for critically ill patients. Manage complex, multi- organ system failure and implement critical care protocols under the supervision and collaboration of the attending physician. Placing orders for appropriate diagnostic and treatment modalities as part of the care plan and interpreting and responding to the results Seeking appropriate specialty and sub-specialty consults Document all care and procedures accurately and promptly in the medical record Collaborate with all colleagues on the care team to ensure high quality care delivery Communicate effectively with patients’ families, providing education and updates on plan of care and prognosis. Respond to emergencies, codes, and rapid response calls within the ICU Minimum Qualifications: ( Acute Care Certification required) Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing or graduate of a accredited Physician Assistant program. JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD Work Shift: 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am as needed Summary of the Job: The nurse practitioner covers all areas within the Pediatric Department. The nurse practitioner manages pediatric and newborn patients with consultation, collaboration, and general supervision and under a collaborative practice agreement with the Pediatric Hospitalist and/or Intensivist, Pediatrician and the Emergency Room Physician utilizing extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, physiology and pharmacology. The Nurse Practitioner exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes, procedures and protocols depending on level of expertise. Nurse Practitioners work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The nurse practitioner also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The nurse practitioner will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital. Minimum Qualifications: Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program . Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience required. 1 year experience in pediatrics required; 2 years’ experience preferred. Current LA APRN license. Current PALS and BLS certifications upon hire. PALS Instructor Certification and NRP obtained within 12 months of hire. Certifications may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to:Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross.The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Able to proficiently perform initial and subsequent assessments on pediatric patients. Able to effectively lead pediatric resuscitation teams. Able to perform: 1. Lumbar puncture 2. IV therapy 3. Superficial Abscess Drainage Preferred Qualifications: Acute care pediatric experience preferred. Physical Demands: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise. About this role The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Additional Details Shift: Monday through Thursday What you bring to the table Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification. What you will do Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested.
