Requirements Master's degree (MSN) A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Family Practice/Primary Care environment Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in practice state Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations Current Certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for medical providers Appropriate certification to write prescriptions under the authority of the Collaborative Physician in accordance with state and federal guidelines Thorough knowledge and adherence to HIPAA, OSHAA, and clinical quality standards Strong computer skills with knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software Demonstrated problem-solving and work flow management skills Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records (we use Athena) Must be willing to develop a thorough understanding of the Mission, Vision, Values, and Patient Promise of Proactive MD and be a champion of them in each patient encounter. Responsibilities Mesilla Valley Hospital (UHS facility) is a free-standing psychiatric hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico that provides mental health and drug & alcohol addiction services for adolescents, adults, and seniors. Mesilla Valley Hospital has been in operation since 1987, serving those in need of treatment for a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Mesilla Valley Hospital is a 120-bed facility, providing access to quality behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas and Arizona. Mesilla Valley Hosptial is currently seeking a Nurse Practioner to assist with patient evaluation. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the attending Physician, the ideal candidate: performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care; adheres to documentation requirements as per hospital P/Ps and medical bylaws; provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as per hospital bylaws for patients under his/her care; participates and assumes leadership role during the interdisciplinary master treatment team meetings and directs the individualized patient treatment plan.; appropriately requests consultation when indicated; provides psychiatric consultations when requested. Qualifications EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION MSN, or DNP is required. Licensed as a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Mexico. Prior experience in hospital based psychiatric practice and outpatient psychiatric practice preferred. Must maintain active status with medical staff. SKILLS Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of crisis intervention procedures. Knowledge of family and group therapy techniques. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
