Responsibilities: 1. Obtains histories for patients (adult and geriatric) which have implications for treatment of the disease processes for which the patients are being seen. 2. Orders and/or performs, evaluates, interprets and integrates findings of diagnostic tests and procedures to formulate health management plan. 3. Performs a complete or problem focused physical examination for patients from adults to geriatrics. 4. Evaluates and makes recommendations for patient/family health management plan with full consideration of patient safety needs under the direction of the supervising physician. Provides patient/family education and counseling with full consideration of patient safety needs under the direction of the supervising physician. 5. Maintains patients' medical records according to established standards and documents in a systematic, accurate and succinct format. Reviews records with supervisory physician on a routine basis. 6. Discusses patient care needs with physician and/or other health professionals when appropriate. Refers patients to physician or to specialized healthcare resources for consultation/treatment as appropriate. 7. Participates in continuing education and/or continuing medical education as required by licensing body and medical staff bylaws. 8. Prescribes medication as permitted by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and/or the N.C. Board of Nursing. Prescribes any necessary drugs under the direction of the supervision physician and in accordance to the Rex PA policy. 9. We are currently searching for Advanced Practice Providers, preferably with urology experience but open to strong and motivated new graduate candidates, to join our NC Urology team at Rex/UNC Hospital and Rex/UNC Holly Springs Hospital (APP would work in both locations). The APP will work alongside a growing team of four Surgeons and two APPs to deliver patient centered comprehensive urologic care. This position will focus primarily on inpatient clinical care and management (evaluating ER and inpatient consults, rounding on postoperative patients, performing bedside procedures, and patient care coordination), outpatient clinical care and operating room coverage (if needed); the hospital and outpatient clinic are side by side in both locations. Outpatient clinic will entail management of a variety of acute and chronic urologic conditions (primarily general urology and urologic oncology), preoperative and postoperative patients, wound care, foley catheter care/management, patient triaging, and other roles as need to support the surgeons and team. Summary: An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician.
