Maternal Fetal Medicine nurse practitioners’ function in an expanded nursing role and perform selected tasks and services within the province of medicine as well as tasks that fall within the province of nursing. Nursing and medicine must maintain ongoing collaboration in education and practice so that the nurse practitioner is maximally effective in meeting the primary health-care needs of women.
