Assistant Nurse Manager - Heart Failure Intermediate Care Unit - Full Time Nights

About the Role: Department Overview: Woody Stewart Heart Failure is a 24 bed Intermediate Care Unit. Our patients consist of LVAD patients, patients with a low EF, heart failure patients that need IV diuretics (Lasix drips and Bumex) and Cardiac drips. The majority of patients have PA catheters that require CVP monitoring. Patients are monitored with bedside and central nurses’ station continuous cardiac monitoring. Telemetry monitoring is provided by the Central Monitoring Unit. Early ambulation and strict I's and O's are a part of every patient's treatment plan as both are very important with heart failure patients. Patients admitted or transferred to this area are assessed, educated, monitored, cared for and treated. Education is a big part of what we do. Heart Failure doesn't just go away so we educate each patient on how to adjust to a life with heart failure. Patients on this unit include: • Hemodynamically stable heart failure patients with pulmonary artery (PA) catheter or CVP monitoring • Patients with acute decompensated heart failure without shock • Acute decompensated heart failure patients with stable respiration on chronic bipap or acute need for bipap • Pre and post cardiac catheterization patients • Pre and Post cardiac intervention patients, including pacemaker insertions and ICD implantations. Job Summary The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM), under the direct and indirect supervision of the Director, facilitates and assists with all levels of nursing care provided to patients within a nursing unit or practice location. The ANM will assist Clinical Nurses with day-to-day problem solving and will facilitate communication between care team providers. He/She coordinates, elevates and resolves problems and conflicts as they occur. The ANM has shift accountability for care delivery, patient flow, matching patient needs with available resources and elevates patient safety concerns/situations as well as any other situation that is unable to be resolved during the shift. In this role, the ANM will coordinate the activities of nursing staff, is accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the unit and staff including stat orders, treatments, plans of care, and clinical pathways are carried out in a consistent manner. The ANM provides expert patient care. The ANM role is critical to improving the quality of care provided as evidenced by the Nursing Sensitive Indicators, as well as ensuring an exceptional patient and family experience on the individual nursing unit/practice setting. The ANM has shift responsibility a minimum of 75% of worked hours and administrative accountability the other 25%. Administrative duties include staffing and scheduling, unit staff selection, retention and performance management, including coaching and counseling. The ANM role serves as a succession plan for the Director role. Responsibilities The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. The Northside Hospital Staff Registered Professional Nurse manages patient care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Northside Hospital. Qualifications REQUIRED Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
