Patient populations include those with cardiac, neurological, renal, genetic conditions, prematurity, and other high-acuity diagnoses. This unit provides advanced therapies such as therapeutic hypothermia (cooling), dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Patients may require varying levels of respiratory support, ranging from room air to high-frequency ventilation. Care delivery is highly specialized, with most patient assignments structured as 1:1 or 2:1 to ensure optimal outcomes and individualized attention. Shift: 7pm-7am 36 hours a week Level III/IV NICU, Critical Care, or ER experience highly preferred. The NICU Registered Nurse applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
