Description The Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit , is located in the new state-of-the-art North Carolina Surgical Hospital. It is a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma certified, Beacon Gold Award for Excellence designated, 40-bed unit specializing in the care of critically injured trauma and surgical patients. This unit serves a variety of surgical patients in addition to trauma to include, but not limited to, transplant, plastics, oncology, obstetrics, gynecology, gastrointestinal, and orthopedics. Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration are hallmarks for this unit while providing expert “Carolina Care” to the patients and families we serve. Our ONE GREAT TEAM facilitates admissions, treatments, transfers, and discharges of patients 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The UNC Medical Center Float Pool is a staffing pool for outpatient and procedural areas. We provide staff for approximately 166 clinics, the majority of which are in Chapel Hill. Individuals must be willing to commute to Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Hillsborough, Burlington, and Greensboro for their shifts. Schedules are made based on clinic needs, therefore clinic assignments can vary day-to-day, giving you an opportunity to experience a variety of specialties and teams! Our staff is expected to work both on campus (in the hospital) and at off-campus clinics. Employees are per diem and are compensated with flat hourly rates. Teammates in these roles do not qualify for PTO, FMLA, or health insurance. This is all part of an expansion of the Behavioral Health Services at Duke Regional Hospital, which brings together inpatient, outpatient and emergency behavioral health services as part of a 112,000-square-foot centralized behavioral health center. Job Summary: As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by DUHS Professional Practice model participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health-related projects as assigned.
