The expectation of this job is to be available and flexible to travel to various sites throughout Legacy Health and provide patient care. The Vascular Access Nurse provides consultation for providers and nurses for the most appropriate vascular access device based on patient assessment and the treatment plan. Places vascular access devices such as: peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), Peripheral Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), Midline catheters and Intra-osseous catheters. Accesses and de-accesses implanted ports. Assesses and manages central venous access devices including routine dressing changes, cap changes and intervenes to maintain patency of central venous access devices. Serves as a resource for the health care team in the intravenous access, placement, management, and patient/family education for care and maintenance. Service area is both inpatient and outpatient. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
