Unique to Bean 5, the 8 bed IMC includes our Assisted Ventilator Unit. The patient population on Bean 5 is vast and includes specialties of acute on chronic states, respiratory failure, complex vascular, general surgical and neuroscience conditions, sepsis and multisystem organ failure. RN’s providing care in the Bean 5 IMC/AVUdemonstrate astute assessment and critical thinking skills, as patients in IMC may have multi-system issues that require continuous monitoring, medication drips, frequent interventions, and higher level respiratory support.Within our Assisted Ventilation Unit (AVU) patients may be requiring acute and/or chronic ventilator support. The manager is responsible for staffing, personnel management, and ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care delivery. While the role carries 24/7 accountability for unit operations, a call rotation across leaders helps support off-hours and weekend coverage. The position oversees approximately 75 staff members across the units. The Spring Harbor Child and Adolescent service is a 34 bed, 4-unit, service providing care to youth from throughout Maine. Youth who require acute mental health treatment are typically imminent risk to themselves or others and are unable to receive treatment at a lower level of care due to the severity of their psychiatric symptoms. Role The Registered Nurse – Charge – Behavioral Health role assumes frontline leadership in the daily operations of the department and works collaboratively with departmental staff, physicians/advanced practice practitioners, hospital staff, pre-hospital providers and community agencies to provide oversight and direction for the delivery of safe patient and family centered care. Commonly treated diagnoses include: Depression Disruptive Behavior Disorders Emerging Psychotic Disorders Anxiety Disorders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Substance Use Disorders Unit treatment and programming includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, individual and family therapy, occupational therapy interventions, and utilization of positive behavioral incentives and supports. Patients receive on-site academic tutoring and engage in recreational opportunities in the gym, and the outside playground and courtyard areas. Treatment includes dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, milieu activities, and skills-based groups.The Registered Nurse – Charge – Behavioral Health role assumes frontline leadership in the daily operations of the department and works collaboratively with departmental staff, physicians/advanced practice practitioners, hospital staff, pre-hospital providers and community agencies to provide oversight and direction for the delivery of safe patient and family centered care. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must complete within 30 days of start date. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Certification RN-BC preferred. Experience: Two years of relevant experience preferred, experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
