Summary The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. Specific competencies include: Provide pre and post-surgical patient education, interaction with electronic health records, telephone triage of incoming patient calls, administration of subcutaneous and intramuscular injections; Safe handling and disposal of oral medications to minimize patient and staff exposure to hazardous drugs; Management of treatment related side effects and adverse reactions; Minimizing the risk of infection among patients who are actually or potentially immunocompromised; Knowledge needed to facilitate early detection of specific side effects that lead to effective self-management of the side effect when it does occur. Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations.
