Independent practice model 4-day work week, regular schedule = Monday-Thursday Level IV trauma, 4 ORs, ~2000 cases in 2024 Nicely varied case mix: lots of General Surgery and Ortho, plus some ENT, Ophthalmology, Uro, Podiatry, etc. No heads/hearts/Peds Exceptionally close-knit, collegial relationships between surgeons, CRNAs, nurses, techs, etc. There are no “power struggles” here Peel-off system Call coverage at Owatonna Hospital Job Description: Renders a patient insensitive to pain by the administration of anesthetic agents and related drugs and procedures to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic or surgical procedures. Provides airway management, IV access and monitored anesthesia care services in areas throughout the facility. Responds to requests for pain-related consultation and services. Principle Responsibilities Provides Anesthesia care Performs pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of patient, reviews orders and obtains informed consent. Assures that the patient is positioned in proper alignment and safely secured. Initiates anesthetic technique, which may include general, regional, local or sedation. Manages airway and cardiopulmonary status to maintain satisfactory physiologic condition. Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia by administering medications, fluids and airway support. Maintains vascular access devices in accordance with current best practice guidelines, including maintenance of current vascular access devices or for the insertion of appropriate peripheral vascular access devices. Educate patients and caregivers to appropriately infuse home intravenous or subcutaneous medications in the home setting. Responsible for safe administration and monitoring of patient for intravenous medications required to be administered by nurse per departmental policy (i.e. biologics). Home Environment and Care Coordination. Assesses home environments for safe medication administration. Ensures accurate documentation and appropriate plans per accreditation standards. Obtains venipuncture laboratory specimens in accordance with best practice. Coordination, and collaboration of care for patients to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion. Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care. Patient Outcomes and Quality Improvement. Collaborates with patients and families to set realistic, measurable outcomes. Participates in quality improvement strategies and to improve care quality and efficiency.
