Job Summary The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. They effectively communicate with physicians about changes in the patient’s condition, including hemodynamic monitoring and symptomatology. The RN responds quickly and accurately to changes or needs based on the patient assessments. Responsibilities include patient prep for procedures, ongoing patient assessments, providing appropriate moderate sedation per UWMC policy, monitoring, and circulating diagnostic and complex interventional cardiology procedures. Primary Job Responsibilities Assists the nurse manager in the recruitment and staff selection process for Medical Oncology ICU Team employees (primarily ICU RNs and other roles/positions/job classes ad hoc) Collaborates with Staff Development liaison and Critical Care educator(s)/CNSs to develop individualized orientation action plans for new employees. Coordinates orientation schedule for new staff including selection of appropriate units, and assignment of shifts. Assists with planning and implementation of continuing education programs for ICU Team staff. Designs and coordinates annual competency reviews for RN staff. Provides feedback and guidance to staff; observes and reviews staff performance. Identifies the individual capabilities of staff; provides counseling, instruction, or additional experience as needed; and consults with the nurse manager if further action is indicated.
