Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) — Job Description The Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct care and support to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The CNA helps residents with daily activities while maintaining their safety, comfort, dignity, and independence. Primary responsibilities include: Assisting residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, walking, standing, exercising, and getting in and out of bed Answering call lights and determining how best to assist residents Turning and repositioning residents who are bedridden Measuring and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration Recording food and fluid intake and urinary and bowel output Following residents’ dietary restrictions, allergies, and food preferences Observing residents for changes such as wounds, bruising, pain, unusual behavior, or other health concerns Promptly reporting changes in a resident’s condition to nurses or other medical staff Supporting mobility, ambulation, restorative nursing activities, and fall-prevention measures Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable resident environment Communicating respectfully with residents, families, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and other staff Following facility policies, care plans, infection-control procedures, and safety requirements Qualifications: Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification Good standing with the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry Ability to work every other weekend and alternating holidays Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to care for residents in a calm, compassionate, respectful, and dependable manner Skilled-nursing or long-term-care experience is preferred
