The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital provides extraordinary high-level care for children who require continuous monitoring. The unit has 20 beds for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. More than 1,000 children per year are admitted into the intensive care units at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital arriving via ambulance, helicopter and airplane from throughout the western United States. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) is a 16-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. The TCU provides care to patients with a moderate to high complexity of disease such as those recovering from solid organ transplantation, titration of anticoagulant therapy and other infusion, and post-operative specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery). Patients requiring respiratory support including BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and patients requiring mechanical ventilation with tracheostomy in place are also routinely admitted to the TCUP. The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full member of the team taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows and residents. The team of over 30 Perianesthesia specialty nurses provide dynamic and compassionate care for a wide variety of adult patients following anesthesia. The preoperative care area prepares patients for surgery, assures their readiness, and provides preoperative teaching for patients and their families. Our postoperative area cares for patients recovering from a wide variety of surgeries and procedures for the following services: general surgery, orthopedic oncology, breast, plastics, urology, gynecology (benign and oncology), radiation oncology, head and neck, colorectal and endoscopy. The priority postoperatively is to physiologically stabilize patients, provide innovative pain management strategies, and integrate family-centered care. Once the patient is stable and awake, family members are encouraged to rejoin the patient. An interdisciplinary team of nurses, surgeons, specialty physicians, anesthesiologists, pain service physicians, and respiratory therapists work to initiate the recovery from surgery continued in the inpatient or outpatient setting. The Perianesthesia nurses work collaboratively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other members of the interdisciplinary team while under the support of the Unit Director and Assistant Unit Director. Required Qualifications Minimum of seven (7) years of perioperative clinical experience in a hospital-based, high-volume PACU setting, and a minimum of five (5) years of critical care (ICU) experience. Cancer Center Infusion Full Time 88370BR Job Summary Interested in a dynamic, autonomous practice setting, working with a highly skilled and collaborative APP team? Consider joining our ambulatory care Cancer Center Infusion APP team. The Cancer Center Infusion APP team is responsible for overseeing the care of 50-75 patients per day (depending on size of unit). We cover five Infusion centers providing treatment for Oncology and non-Oncology patients. The Infusion APPs triage multiple issues in real time and ensure continuity of care through collaboration and communication with physicians/surgeons/APP colleagues as well as other clinical and administrative staff. Ultimately, we ensure timely patient care and treatment to meet goals of care, optimize the patient experience and ensure good patient outcomes. In addition to our infusion areas, we cover our three bed Cancer Center Acute Care (CACC) where we manage higher acuity Oncology patients to avoid unnecessary emergency room visits, hospital admissions and facilitate emergency services and admission when necessary. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations.
