Summary The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is integral to the nursing leadership team. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a licensed registered nurse that has graduate preparation (master’s or doctorate) in nursing a Clinical Nurse Specialist. The CNS assesses the impact of the social and economic forces on care delivery. Collaborates, participates, makes decisions, and has input into and supports the goals of the nursing service and specialty area. The APRN-CNS practice spans three spheres of influence: the patient/family, the nurse/healthcare team, and The MetroHealth System. While the practice balance across the three spheres may vary by specialty, the focus is the improvement of clinical and system outcomes.
