Performs or assists patient with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, activity). Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff. Collects information regarding patient/patient condition: vital signs, intake and output, food intake. Consistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasks. Participates in best practices in a consistent and positive manner; huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence, and the use of the white boards. Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care. Utilizes unit specific equipment competently. Competently performs unit specific procedures. Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of Unit PI plan. Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations. Follows established hospital/department safety policies. Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and patients/individuals bring to interactions. Education And Work Experience High school graduate/GED preferred Prior experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting may be used as a substitute to the education requirement. Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred. CPR certified preferred. Basic computer skills. Ability to communicate professionally with patient, family, peers and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgment. Requires emotional stability and maturity; must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Physical Demands/Work Environment Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time. Ability to work weekends Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations. May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients. Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
