The Advanced Surgical Technologist expands on this foundation by supporting complex procedures, such as Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Neurosurgery, and Vascular and by contributing to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization for advanced surgical service lines. Required to provide coverage to other surgical services based on practice needs and competency outside of their primary service. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program. Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Surgical Technologists hired at the following locations prior to the identified dates, are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA: • Mayo Clinic in Florida hired prior to 11/20/2024 Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: • Qualified candidates must have strong scrub skills in General, Urology and Gynecology; additional experience in Neurosurgery and Orthopedics is preferred, but not required.
