Job Summary Provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient/family centered care. Unit Description Surgical Telemetry is a 30-bed monitored unit caring for a diverse adult patient population. Patients on Surgical Telemetry have health issues requiring surgical interventions, but there is also a subset of medical diagnoses. Diagnoses include but are not limited to the treatment for Traumatic injuries, Cancers in need of surgical intervention, GI bleeds requiring surgical intervention, General and minimally invasive surgical procedures as well as surgical management for bowel obstructions. We also care for a subset of medical diagnoses including sepsis, cardiac arrhythmias, GI bleeds, renal failure and diabetic emergencies. Strong collaboration and teamwork between physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, therapy, case management and social work is encouraged to optimize patient care. All nursing staff on Surgical Telemetry will be trained in telemetry monitoring, stroke care, and must have or obtain ACLS certification upon hire. 10-hr or 12-hr night shifts are available.
