KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Provides leadership and direction to Mental Health Workers. Assist in collection and documentation of a comprehensive database. Administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner. Provides structure to and assists in maintaining the therapeutic milieu. Directly intervenes and assist the RN in psychiatric and/or medical crisis situations. Involved in activities of daily living in order to encourage positive behaviors and foster self-care. Adheres to all facility level of care and program policy and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES : Knowledge of appropriate nursing, diagnosis, and intervention with psychiatric patients. Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side effects. Knowledge of milieu. Ability to delegate responsibility to Mental Health Workers and monitor their performance. Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures. Skill in developing therapeutic relationships with adults, children, adolescents, and their families. Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation. EDUCATION : Graduate of an accredited school of LPN/RN/LVN nursing. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION : Current Tennessee driver's license or valid state ID. Current Tennessee State Licensed Practical Nurse LPN licensure, :LVN lisensure or RN lisensure. EXPERIENCE : Experience preferred in field of Mental Health Nursing.
