Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for to the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private Inpatient rooms, a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties. Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Uptown The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities. Managed by United Surgical Partners International & Joint Commission Accredited We are currently looking for a Seasonal Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our team. The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) will support our team by being responsible for the following: Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, sets up and maintains a sterile field for minor and major surgical procedures applying special knowledge of asepsis. Applies knowledge of specialized instruments, equipment, and supplies utilized in the Operating Room. Organizes instruments, equipment, and supplies for easy access and maximum efficiency. Participates in a rotational call system as needed to provide for continuous availability of patient services. Follows appropriate guidelines for setting up sterile field and instruments for designated procedures. Maintains current knowledge of procedures performed in the Operating Room. Re-stocks Operating Room supplies as caseload permits. Assists circulating nurse in maintenance of physician preference cards. Required Skills: High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum of one year of previous Operating Room CST experience is required. CST certification, required. Current BLS required. One year of Total Joint, Complex Spine, and Arthroscopy experience, preferred.

Responsible for sterilization of surgical equipment and to assemble scheduled and emergency case carts. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Demonstrates correct Materials Management (instruments, sponges, needles, etc.) Displays various transfer techniques with sharps, as needed. Counting of surgical objects as required per policy. Accountability and care of surgical specimens. Consistently practices procedures to protect self and others and adheres to OSHA exposure plan guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of the surgery environment. Using the correct Personal Protective Equipment as needed. Having and practicing the skills necessary to function within all surgery specialties. (Ortho, Neuro, General, Vascular, OB/GYN, Plastic, Cysto, Uro and Opth. Scrubs for operative procedures demonstrating good aseptic technique, knowledge of perioperative safety and infection control guidelines, and appropriate handling of instruments, suture, and specimens. Demonstrates competency in assisting the nurse in the care of the patient by assisting with patient prep, patient positioning, and transportation of the patient. Qualifications Certified Requirements: Certification as a surgical technologist (CST) required. 1-2 years of scrubbing experience in an operating room setting. BLS certification required. Good communication skills. Basic computer skills required. Non Certified Requirements: High school graduate or GED required. BLS required. Surgical technology preparation and/or experience in operating room technique required. Nurse Aide experience is a preferred.
