Required Education, Experience and Credentials: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program/state approved educational program Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice -to maintain throughout the duration of employment in the position Two (2) or more years’ experience as LPN/LVN, to include one (1) or more years in SNF or LTACH setting Wound care experience preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated competency in BLS (Basic Life Support) Demonstrated organization, prioritization and time-management skills Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations. The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing various clinical and non-clinical patient care services for the Wound Care Center. Functions typically include assisting the Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in preparing patients for the examination, gathering and reporting patient data, and cleaning unit equipment and areas. These tasks are accomplished according to the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Center. This includes assisting patients with mobility, transfers, positioning, and correct application of orthosis/prosthesis, use of adaptive devices, etc. Dresses patient wounds as delegated by the RN Assist in vein clinic as assigned after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed Assists the RN or LPN/LVN during the intake/discharge process: Collecting, recording and reporting data that includes vitals, Temperature, Pulse and Respiration (TPR), Blood Pressure (BP) and blood sugar readings Taking wound photography and measurement Tracking the observed responses to treatment Recording care given as observed responses to treatment, including participation in wound care/Hyperbaric plan Reporting unusual observations or changes in patient condition/behaviour, Collecting specimens as requested Completes unit tasks such as cleaning exam areas, cleaning hyperbaric gurneys and chambers, sterile instrument processing, and other unit tasks as assigned. Performs Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy related duties as needed, upon the completion of the required Healogics Hyperbaric training. Performs other duties as required.
