The ADON plays a vital role in ensuring quality care delivery, staffing oversight, staff education, compliance, and interdisciplinary coordination. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing department goals, policies, and procedures Help coordinate nursing services with other departments to ensure comprehensive resident care Participate in facility inspections and audits, and assist with quality assurance initiatives Support DON with staffing decisions, hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and performance management Ensure accurate daily staffing levels and assignments, including oversight of RN, LPN, and CNA staff Oversee infection control practices and ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and abuse prevention protocols Make regular rounds to assess staff performance and resident satisfaction Monitor medication administration and care delivery, reporting discrepancies as needed Provide direct resident care when necessary and model clinical best practices Serve as a mentor and role model to nursing staff; promote professional growth and team accountability Participate in care plan meetings, resident admissions, and discharge planning Support development of in-service training, new hire orientation, and ongoing staff education Uphold standards for cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout nursing areas Actively contribute to the facility’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program Represent nursing leadership in the absence of the DON Required Qualifications: Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois • Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution Minimum of 2 years of nursing supervisory experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting At least 6 months experience in restorative or rehabilitative nursing practices Current CPR certification Demonstrated knowledge of nursing regulations, practices, and long-term care compliance Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Strong commitment to resident rights, dignity, and individualized care Physical Requirements: Ability to move intermittently throughout the facility and respond quickly in emergency situations Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 25 lbs. and assist in resident evacuation if needed Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position Vision and hearing must be sufficient to meet job requirements, with or without assistive devices Ready to take the next step in your leadership journey?
