Consults with Cardiac Rehab patients to assess and implement cardiopulmonary rehabilitative health needs. Helps develop positive lifestyle habits for the patients in order to help them recover and maintain maximum health to prevent any associated complications. Monitors each patient’s heart function, and designs customized programs that include nutritional counseling, supervised exercise, emotional support, and education about other lifestyle changes. Required to run multiple exercise classes for patients and convey their progress reports to their respective cardiologist. Proficient in EKG monitoring and checking patient vitals during class times. Obtains lipid profiles for patients, as well as performs mock cardiac codes for the cardiac rehab staff. First responder for emergency situations in Cardiac Rehab. Competent with the use of an AED and portable oxygen. Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred. BLS and ACLS certified. Registered nurse in the state of Tennessee. Twenty-four (24) month recent and relevant experience preferred. Must be able to effectively provide nursing skills as it relates to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, including adequate documentation, interpretation of medical data, and relate appropriate to the participant and their support structure, colleagues, physicians, and other health care workers. Must be able to perform phlebotomy. Indoor fitness, classroom, and office environments. Must be able to demonstrate proper exercise equipment use. Exposure to blood in laboratory type setting. Must have the ability to self-assess, self-correct, and self-direct. Maintains accountability of his/her actions. Must be able to communicate effectively in English (i.e., speaking, body language, reading, writing, listening) for varied audiences and purposes. Must be able to interact effectively with patients, families, colleagues, other health care professionals and the community and to deal effectively with cultural and ethnic diversity issues. The medical advanced practice provider working in Bradley Medical Center will be responsible for taking medical histories, examine, and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and other diagnoses (i.e. x-rays, CT scans, MRI) and make diagnoses. The medical advanced practice provider will prescribe medications and other ancillary services as indicated (i.e. physical therapy, occupational therapy, dietary consults, behavioral health consults). The medical advanced practice provider will provide patient education as indicated. The above duties and other duties as assigned will be performed in collaboration with a supervising physician and the physician assistant or nurse practitioner. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner program. Licensure: Registered PA or APRN license, or eligible for license, in state of Tennessee. AHA BLS CPR required. Experience: Demonstration of clinical competency in the Advanced Practice Provider role. Two years’ experience preferred. Skills: Demonstration of clinical competency in the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner role. Demonstration of qualities of leadership and sound clinical judgment. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, fellow co-workers and other members of the health care team. Ability to effectively interpret, implement and support hospital policies, regulations, philosophy and objectives.
