Validates that the Nursing Department continues to develop and maintain high standards for excellence. Essential Functions: Develops and maintains a nursing service philosophy, objectives, standards of practice, policy and process manuals. Establishes systems for care planning, including assessments, plan of treatment, objectives and goals, evaluations and discharge planning. Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, coaching, and conducting performance appraisals Demonstrates an understanding and knowledge of certification laws and requirements, survey requirements and Medicare program. Validates that reporting departments consistently meet state and federal requirements for long-term care facilities for licensure. Validates existence of a quality assurance program for nursing services and coordinates interdisciplinary quality assurance program. Directs the functions and activities of the ED in his/her absence. Job Summary: Seattle Medical Post Acute Care is seeking a MDS Coordinator Nurse (RN) to conduct and coordinate the development and completion of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), that is, the Minimum Data Set (MDS), Care Area Assessments (CAAs) and Care Plan in accordance with State and Federal requirements. Participates as part of the Nursing Center Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) for Medicare management as assigned. Essential Functions: Coordinate the IDT in timely completion of the assessments. Utilize MDS Scheduler to plan and set MDS Assessment Reference Dates (ARDs). Communicate ARD selection for specific MDSs to IDT. Complete Care Area Assessments (CAAs) as required. Complete care plan items relevant to current MDS and attend care plan meetings as assigned. Monitor the overall documentation in the medical record to validate that it supports MDS coding. Participate in Medicare utilization management as assigned.
