RN Resource Nurse - Nursing Admin - PT .6 DAYS

QUALIFICATIONS Required : Basic nursing skills; Acute hospital care experience; Demonstrable the ability to communicate, prioritize, organize and lead in all interactions. Displays the ability to solve problems utilizing appropriate resources. Effective teaching skills. Exhibits the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills and ability to work independently. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred : BSN. Critical care/ED experience preferred. Lic/Reg/Cert : Current Oregon RN license. TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS The Clinical Resource Nurse will meet medium to high physical and mental demands. Cognitive skills necessary to perform essential job functions using independent judgment in high stress, highly turbulent health care settings. Physical demands at the RN II level. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs. and spend equal percentage of time walking, standing, and sitting throughout shift. Able to work under stress and under constant time demands while effectively prioritizing the management of multiple projects/duties with flexibility. Must be able to function effectively during crisis or trauma events. Possess the requisite visual, auditory, and fine motor skills required by direct patient care nursing. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Attends daily morning safety huddle to identify where resources will be needed. • Provides timely initial assessment for direct admissions as a first priority. • Coordinates direct admission orders for diagnostic studies to improve the process and minimize transfers for the patient. • Coordinates patient placement and transport to appropriate department with hospital supervisor/bed coordinator. • Will be available for moderate sedation procedures during working hours as assigned by the hospital supervisor/bed coordinator. • Will be available for acute care assignments as needed, serving as a resource to the nursing departments, assisting with nursing care as needed and identified through regular rounds as directed by the hospital supervisor/bed coordinator. • Demonstrates effective response to patients crisis/emergency situations, demonstrates flexibility in performing duties as assigned by the supervisor/bed coordinator. (Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code Grey, Patient Fall). • Works closely with the supervisor/bed coordinator to determine the need for and assist with lunch relief. • Provides and documents patient/family education regarding admission, including learning assessment. • Facilitates discharges through completion of after visit summary, printing of appropriate patient education materials, calling in prescriptions, and making appointments and assisting with discharge education/process and teach-back methods. • Assist with difficult IV starts. • Follows up on all patients in restraints. • Ability to perform effectively in a minimum of 3 departments with the ICU and/or the ED being preferred. • Maintains current tracking sheet of procedures, admits, discharges, lunch relief provided on each unit for that shift. • Completes compliance audits as assigned by director. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Basic nursing skills; concepts of medical, surgical asepsis and disease processes; terminology, theory, techniques and practices of professional nursing. Effective verbal and written communication in care management, flexibility with priorities and activity, and ability to remain calm and handle stress and emotional responses adapted to the needs of patients and staff. Demonstrate skills in analyzing problems, decision making, planning and implementation, safe body mechanics and ability to use specialized equipment for assigned units. Able to demonstrate and maintain soft skills as outlined in the Sky Lakes Medical Center Employee Standards handbook. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required. Minimum 3 years hospital-based experience. Preferred: Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR); ICU or ED must obtain TNCC within one year of hire and maintained. FBC must obtain EFM within one year of hire and maintained, PALS or ENPC must be obtained within 6 months for ED/ICU/Pediatrics within six months. TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to frequently stoop, bend, and reach, withstanding constant walking, standing, lifting at least 50 pounds or more. Able to push/pull hospital equipment, occasional sitting, and be able to function under periods of stress, trauma and /or disease. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Complete a comprehensive assessment. This includes the initial and ongoing, extensive collection, analysis and interpretation of data. Develop and implement a plan of care for each patient through the nursing process regarding the care, counseling, and health teaching of the ill, injured or infirm. • Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and to formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes. • Implement the plan of care using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. The RN may begin, deliver, assign or delegate certain interventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles • Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research findings and plans, any follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to plan and deliver care. • Observe and follow patient safety alerts by detailing accurate and timely entry of patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR). • Develops action plans and improves patient care by monitoring and evaluating quality of care with the focus on nurse sensitive indicators. Participate in unit-based PI activities to positively impact patient outcomes. • Makes themself available to supervise nursing students when student nurses are assigned to the same unit. • Fill in as a department’s charge nurse or function as a resource nurse across units as needed • Directs, delegates, and provides feedback to support personnel in implementing patient's plan of care, and immediately intervenes with deviation standards of care.
