What You’ll Do:

  • Setting: Inpatient behavioral hospital.
  • Full-time or part-time position available.
  • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, follow-ups, and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to create integrated treatment plans addressing medical and mental health needs.
  • Co-manage patients with complex medical comorbidities alongside mental health providers.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to enhance overall health.
  • Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests and treatments as needed.
  • Deliver emergency care within your licensure scope until specialized care is available.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Licensure: Active Alaska NP/APRN license or the ability to obtain licensure.
  2. Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  3. Certification: AANPCB Board Certification.
  4. Experience: Minimum 1 year of post-training experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred (behavioral health experience a plus).
  5. Skills: Strong collaboration and communication abilities, with a patient-first approach.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Providence is seeking a full-time Psychiatric nurse practitioner to join an established team and clinic in Anchorage, Alaska. The Walk-In Clinic is part of Providence Alaska’s Crisis Stabilization program, providing services across three components: a 23-hour Crisis Stabilization Center for adults 18+, a Short-Term Residential program for adults 18+ with an average length of stay of 3 to 7 days, and a Walk-In Clinic serving as an urgent care for individuals ages 12 and older. The Walk-In Clinic provides rapid, comprehensive psychiatric assessments led by a multidisciplinary team of physicians and/or APPs, nurses, and mental health professionals, utilizing the collection, interpretation, and synthesis of relevant data to assess crisis severity and initiate appropriate interventions.
