Regional Director of Nursing Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Compliance Resource

  • Provide guidance to administrators and DONs re. regulatory / compliance questions and concerns
  • Assist with policy / procedure development, updates, and implementation
  • Conduct compliance rounds during on-site visits and share feedback with admin/DON
  • Provide education to nursing leadership staff re. best practices, regulations, etc.
  • Review all significant incidents (reportable, falls with injury, potential law suits, etc.) to ensure appropriate actions have been taken and supporting documentation is in place
  • Advise admins regarding threshold for reporting events to DOH on case-by-case basis

Collaborate with CNO on implementation of quarterly company-wide PIPs

Survey Prep Support

 

  • Conduct routine site visits to audit regulatory compliance
  • Conduct mock survey for every facility at least once annually
  • Conduct chart audits to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Observe QAPI meetings, safety meetings, daily clinical meetings to ensure standards being met
  • Assist facilities to develop performance improvement plans for issues identified

Survey Management

  • Be present for any clinical survey (annual, infection control, complaint)
  • Support admin, DON, and staff through survey process
  • Participate in entrance and exit conferences with surveyors

Post-Survey Support

  • Review POCs prior to state submission
  • Assist with IDR when necessary
  • Audit compliance with POC

 

DON orientation and mentorship

  • Provide new-hire training to DONs
  • Provide ongoing education as needed
  • Assess DON job performance and report findings / recommendations to administrator for follow up
