Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager Qualifications & Responsibilities:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current, Unencumbered New Jersey Registered Nurse License
  • Previous long-term care experience is preferred
  • Prior experience in inpatient and palliative care is preferred
  • Prior experience managing staff is preferred
  • Supervise the nursing staff on assigned shift by monitoring the distribution of medications, blood draws, and other elements of patient care
  • Conduct nursing rounds on all units’ multiple times throughout the shift
  • Provide education, as needed, to staff, residents and resident family members
  • Assess the unique needs of each patient to determine appropriate treatment plans
  • Track treatments and patient progress according to HIPAA guidelines
  • Coordinate with supervising physicians to ensure a smooth recovery process for residents
  • Ensure staff are performing all duties in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing or Administrator

Assists physician in examination and treatment of patients and in all special procedures including minor surgery as required. Assists the physician with patients including preparing patients and the examination rooms, taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, making lab and x-ray appointments, and explaining the preparations to the patients and documenting same.
