Job Title: Radiology Tech/ Mammography Tech

Department: Diagnostic Imaging

Reports to: Diagnostic Imaging Manager, Assistant Manager

Definition of Position:

Provides health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs Radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Performs medical imaging techniques and related procedures to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Performs diagnostic radiography procedures
Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
Determines radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patient and others.
Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
Verifies informed consent for, and assists a licensed practitioner with, interventional procedures.
Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
In agreement with state statute(s) and/or where institutional policy permits; prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner

Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).

Job Description Primary responsibility involves performance of specific tasks, as a scrub technologist and/or during surgical procedures to facilitate the efficient and safe progress of the surgical case. Assists with the maintenance of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains positive customer relations. Performs various duties within his/her scope of responsibility and is accountable to the Clinical Manager. Responsibilities General Duties Checks daily assignment. Reviews surgical preference lists to clarify surgical routine and update preference lists as needed. Utilize resources to obtain needed supplies for the case. Checks table(s) for complete readiness for each procedure. Ensures all items needed for the case are present: Obtains physician’s special instruments and sutures prior to start of the case. Demonstrates knowledge and dexterity in handling of special supplies and equipment and assures its proper functioning. Is knowledgeable of the specifics of the surgical procedure and able to perform these tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
