RN Critical Care Full Time Night Shift:

Job Responsibilities : Creates, and implements, a written plan of care that addresses the specific needs and goals of each individual patient, making referrals to other professional services as required. Modifies the plan of care based on reassessment of the patient including observed patient response to treatment/care and evaluation of patient's progress toward goal completion and delegates tasks to team members, as appropriate within their scope of practice. Observes, documents, addresses, and implements planned interventions/care, communicating the plan to all members of the team through accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record and, when needed, through verbal reports. Documents accurate patient information in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Assist with medical procedures as prescribed by the treating physicians. Maintain working knowledge of equipment and procedures utilized in critical care setting. Administers medications, accurately and timely according to physician orders and organizational policy and procedure. Maintains knowledge of medication actions and side effects, recognizing allergic reactions and documenting patients’ response to drugs. Successfully transitions patients, communicating the most current plan of care, through walking rounds and providing accurate, timely report to incoming staff. Advises physicians, other disciplines, family/significant others of changes in patient's condition or abnormal findings. Communicates clearly and concisely. Provides clear, specific educational and discharge information to each patient and/or patient family member. May precept new employees and oversee other members of the care team. Attends department meetings. Education Requirements: Minimum: Associate of Science from an accredited school of nursing by date of hire to the position. REGISTERED NURSE - CRITICAL CARE (FULL-TIME, NIGHTS)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs. Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies. Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome. Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning. Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues. Participates in orientation of new staff. Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff. Participates in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance. Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greeting them promptly and courteously. Performs other related duties as assigned. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Critical Care Unit: ACLS or ALS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Must successfully complete dysrhythmia recognition test at initial department orientation. Emergency Department: Must complete ACLS or ALS certification during orientation. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS must be completed within one year of hire. Maternity Center: ACLS or ALS Certification required. NPR certification is required within 3 months of hire. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required. BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required. PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients. BSN preferred.
